Coca-cola Encourages Shared Meals with Loved Ones in First Ad Since the Pandemic

Coca-cola has launched its first ad since the pandemic began in a touching film that showcases the joy of sharing meals with loved ones.

‘Lost together, we discovered ourselves again,’ narrated by actress Soleil Patterson, ‘And we realised that the things that matter deserve time.’

‘From now on,” she concludes, ‘we’re not going to leave anything on our plates. Because we’ve learned to savour the moments that weren’t always there. And they never tasted this good.’

Featuring 13 real families from Kiev, Lisbon, London, Mexico City, Mumbai, Orlando and Shanghai, the ad shows how people around the world reconnected with their family and friends over shared meals and rekindled their love of cooking during the global lockdown.

The ad conveys the brand’s optimistic take on this shared experience, celebrating one of the few positives about the lockdown experience, the quality time with family people have spent together over meals at home. The first half of the ad shows different family bonding and smiling to each other, without the hard presence of the soft drink products.

Perhaps amid the ongoing threat of the global pandemic, there is still silver lining of extra time to foster quality connections with loved ones and family togetherness. Being trapped indoor might fuel fear, sadness, or even anxiety. But as the ad suggests, the best way to cope with the negative feelings during lockdowns is to keep hope alive and turn the negative situation into a positive one. When was the last time you sit down, talk, and connect with your families at the dining table?
